چکیده

Abstract — In this paper, we present a non-conforming hp computational modeling methodology for solving elasticity problems. We consider the incompressible elasticity model formulated as a mixed displacement-pressure problem on a global domain which is partitioned into several local subdomains. The approximation within each local subdomain is designed using div-stable hp-mixed finite elements. The displacement is computed in a mortared space while the pressure is not subjected to any constraints across the interfaces. Our computational results demonstrate that the non-conforming finite element method presented for the elasticity problem satisfies similar rates of convergence as the conforming finite element method, in the presence of various hversion and p-version discretizations. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 65N30; 65N55.

Modified Fixed Grid Finite Element Method to Solve 3D Elasticity Problems of Functionally Graded Materials

In the present paper, applicability of the modified fixed grid finite element method in solution of three dimensional elasticity problems of functionally graded materials is investigated. In the non-boundary-fitted meshes, the elements are not conforming to the domain boundaries and the boundary nodes which are used in the traditional finite element method for the application of boundary condit...

A BDDC Algorithm for Mortar Discretization of Elasticity Problems

Abstract. A BDDC (balancing domain decomposition by constraints) algorithm is developed for elasticity problems in three dimensions with mortar discretization on geometrically nonconforming subdomain partitions. Coarse basis functions in the BDDC algorithm are constructed from primal constraints on faces. These constrains are similar to the average matching condition and the moment matching con...

The finite element method is the established simulation tool for the numerical solution of partial differential equations in many engineering problems with many mathematical developments such as mixed finite element methods (FEMs) and other nonstandard FEMs like least-squares, nonconforming, and discontinuous Galerkin (dG) FEMs. Various aspects on this plus related topics ranging from order-red...

A Feti-dp Algorithm for Elasticity Problems with Mortar Discretization on Geometrically Non-conforming Partitions

Abstract. In this paper, a FETI-DP formulation for three dimensional elasticity on non-matching grids over geometrically non-conforming subdomain partitions is considered. To resolve the nonconformity of the finite elements, a mortar matching condition is imposed on the subdomain interfaces (faces). A FETI-DP algorithm is then built by enforcing the mortar matching condition in dual and primal ...
